Prerequisites

The PMP® certification is designed for experienced professionals who have been actively involved in managing or supporting projects. Before you can take the PMP exam, you’ll need to meet certain education and experience requirements set by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to ensure you’re ready for this advanced credential.

To sit for the PMP® exam, you’ll need to meet one of the following sets of requirements:

Option 1:

A four-year degree (bachelor’s or global equivalent)
3 Years of project management experience
35 hours of project management education or a CAPM® certification

Option 2:

A high school diploma or associate degree (or global equivalent)
5 years of project management experience
35 hours of project management education or a CAPM® certification
