As promised, I’m going to show you how you can start earning $85,000 per year with your CompTIA Security+ certification.
The CompTIA Security + certification is a starting point for almost all cyber security professionals. The current series is named “SY0-701.” There have been many iterations of the exam, but this is the current exam number. There are 90 questions on the exam, and you’re given 90 minutes to complete the exam. That’s one minute per question.
The types of questions you’re going to see are four choice multiple-choice questions and performance-based questions. The performance-based questions usually involve a series of drop-down menus where you will be tested on technical concepts. For example, you may need to configure a firewall, or explain the attack vectors of a social engineering attack. You might have to match different network interfaces using a drag and drop menu.
You don’t need any experience to take the Security+ examination. It’s recommended that you have two years of experience within the industry, but you don’t need that. You just need to take the exam and pass to get the certification.
No one’s going to check your work history or any of your past employment history. You just take the exam. If you pass, you get certified and that’s it. All it takes is the right training to prepare you for the exam!
Your passing score is 750 out of 900. It’s a scoring method that puts different weights on different questions depending on what domain those questions are from. You’re going to take the test either at a PearsonVUE testing center in person or through the web.
With our current situation, times are very tough, and CompTIA has offered to provide remote certification testing. I’m going to show you how to do that.
The domains are broken out by different weight. First, you have Domain 1: General Security Concepts. It’s worth 12% of the total weight. That means that about 12% of the questions you encounter on the exam will be from this domain. Sometimes, questions from this domain are given a higher weight, meaning that they are worth more points towards you overall score.
Domain 2: Threats, Vulnerabilities, and Mitigations focuses on the technologies and devices used by cybersecurity professionals. Domain 3: Security Architecture covers protocols and their uses as well as security controls. Domain 4: Security Operations is focused on real-time monitoring and response techniques, like those used is Security Operations Centers.
Domain 5: Security Program Management and Oversight is worth 20%. This domain teaches program management techniques. With my Security + Course, you’ll learn all of the exam topics from each of these domains so you can ace your exam on the first try.
The CompTIA Security + certification is the world’s most popular cybersecurity certification. The certification, once obtained, lasts for three years and can easily be maintained from year to year by earning continuing education credits or CEUs.
Basically, one hour of education is worth about one CEU. You can obtain these CEUs by reading books, pursuing other professional certifications, or conducting study on your own. You’ll want to input that information on a website you are given access to once you obtain the certification. It’s all based on your honesty. You have some education, you mark down. “I read this book, I watched these videos,” etc.
When you join Cyberkraft, I’m going to be giving you access to these continuing education opportunities on an ongoing basis.
Security+ is also vendor neutral, which means it’s recognized by the vast majority of companies. It’s not like a Cisco certification, which is only recognized by companies that use Cisco brand devices. Security+ is globally recognized and recognized by many different industries. It’s recognized by the US federal government, foreign governments, European governments. It’s also recognized by commercial companies, by leading Fortune 500 companies, and anybody who’s interested in having properly trained cybersecurity professionals.
CompTIA Security+ certification holders earn an average yearly salary of $85,000. That’s an average. That means some people earn less and some people earn much more. If you have other certifications as well as the Security+, you can expect to earn much more, probably over $100,000 per year.
But just having the Security+ certification on its own should net you a yearly salary of $85,000 per year. That’s why I keep harping on it, because it’s definitely possible and absolutely obtainable.
Security+ certification also meets ISO-17024 standards, which is a globally recognized set of computer standards used by many governments and especially the European Union. It also meets Department of Defense requirements, their directive 8140/8570.01-M. This is just a fancy way of saying that the Department of Defense requires many of its personnel and workers to have a Security + certification in order to fill a position.
This holds true for many other federal agencies also. By having a Security+ certification, you are automatically qualified for these high paying government jobs, these secure jobs for the US federal government.
Now, that’s information on Security+, let’s take a look at how you can actually register.
First, you’ll need a SY0-701 Security+ voucher.
Normally, these vouchers cost $405 from the CompTIA website.
Though by signing up to watch this free video training, you are now a member of the Cyberkraft Training Community.
This means you are eligible for a special discounted rate of $365!
Because times are very hard right now, you are now allowed to take this examination online. That means you could take the exam from your home. This is quite an advantage, I would say. Not only because you are able to take it in the comfort of your home, but you don’t have to risk your health or your livelihood by going out to a testing center or use a computer that other people have used. Plus, you could also use the resources you have at home to aid you in your examination.
If you’re interested in taking it at the testing center, that’s perfectly fine. Many people, including myself, prefer to take tests in person at their testing centers, because it’s a very quiet environment. If you want to avoid the distractions you have in your home, then that’s perfectly fine and you can search for a testing center near your location.
If you’d like to take advantage of the online testing, click on “Online Certification Training.” You would then create an account with PearsonVue. Then, select the CompTIA partner page (linked here) to schedule your exam. Then you would present your voucher code to PearsonVue and select a time to take the exam.
PearsonVue will require you to have a webcam so that an online proctor can watch you during the examination. You will have to show a 360 degree view of the room where you are taking the exam to ensure there are no notes or open study materials nearby.
If you decide you want to go forward and you want to start earning that $85,000 per year, I invite you to check out my Security+ Self-Paced Course or enroll in one of my Security+ Live Bootcamps.
I’ve created over 30 hours of high definition video lessons that teach you every topic on the Security+ exam objectives. I’ve broken it up by each of the five domains.
It comes with HD video proctored lessons where you can just sit down, watch the video, and absorb all the information you need to know.
Passing the test is the ultimate goal so you will also receive 10 practice quizzes and three 90 question simulation exams.
This course also includes the Official Learn+Labs Environment (a $1050 value) with assessments, performance based questions, games, flashcards, and more.
Learn everything you need to pass the SY0-701 exam and start earning that $85,000 per year salary.
Thank you very much for reading. I sure hope I’ve helped you! And again, welcome to the Cyberkraft Community. Keep an eye on your inbox for course updates and extra study materials!
