Military Occupations (MOS) That Can Be Used to Get Cybersecurity Jobs
Transitioning into the civilian world is a tough process for most Veterans. Finding a civilian job is challenging and it can often seem like you’re starting from step one. It can be very difficult to convey what you accomplished during your service time. Many civilians do not understand the amount of hard work and discipline it takes to be a Soldier, Airman, Sailor, or Marine. So, it’s important to pick a career field where your hard work and talents can be recognized.
The cybersecurity career field is full of opportunities for Veterans. Many Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) directly relate to cybersecurity jobs. The skills and experience you gained during your service can count as cybersecurity experience for many civilian jobs. Most Service Members don’t realize the types of tasks that encompass cybersecurity and dismiss their skills as not relevant to the cybersecurity field. In fact, many seemingly unrelated jobs can count as experience in cyber.
MOS Quick Reference Guide
Cyberkraft has taken the time to create a reference guide for Service Members to help determine if your MOS qualifies you for cybersecurity jobs. We’ve included MOS from each service branch. If you served in one of these MOS, then your MOS counts as cybersecurity experience in civilian jobs.
